Debbie Jones is a registered nurse and certified diabetes educator. Debbie has a diploma in diabetes education from the International Diabetes Center in Minneapolis USA and a masters in Diabetes education from Kings College London UK (FEND).
Debbie is past chair of the International Diabetes Federation, North American Region and past Vice President of the International Diabetes Federation. She also chaired the International Diabetes Federation Young Leaders in Diabetes Programme for eleven years and chaired the International Diabetes Federation disaster committee for four years.
Debbie co-founded the Bermuda Diabetes Association in 1978, co-wrote the first diabetes clinical guidelines for Bermuda, co-wrote and co-directed the Bermuda Diabetes Association Epidemiology Project and coordinated international clinical trials at BHB KEMH for thirteen years.
Debbie oversaw the capital campaign for the Hilton Hill Diabetes Resource Centre which opened its doors August 2020. Deborah is on the board of Bermuda Diabetes Association and managed the accreditation process leading to the Bermuda Diabetes Association receiving the Bermuda National Standards Accreditation.
