Mike Jones has been closely connected with Bermuda Diabetes Association for its entire history. He was a member of its initial steering and executive committee and volunteered his legal services in organizing its formation and registration as a Bermuda charity in 1979. In 2008, he undertook the incorporation of Bermuda Diabetes Association as a company limited by guarantee under the Companies Act 1981.
Apart from serving as legal counsel to the Association ,he has in recent years been a member of its board of directors.
Mike holds a B.A (Hons) degree in Jurisprudence from Oxford University and is a retired corporate partner of Appleby, the Bermuda law firm. He currently holds the position of General Counsel for Novartis Investment Ltd.
Mike 's volunteer work also includes a term as joint Honorary Legal Counsel of the International Diabetes Federation, in which capacity he provided advice to the Organizing Committee for the IDF 2013 Congress in Melbourne and for the establishment of the IDF Young Leaders in Diabetes.
Mike is a Trustee of the Nicholl Scholarship in Bermuda, a past President of Triangle Swim Club and a founder member and director of Bermuda Pilot Gig Club. He is married with three children and, whenever possible, enjoys all sport and travel.
