Originally from Northern Ireland, Sarah is a Registered Dietitian in both the UK and Bermuda. Sarah has been working as a Registered Dietitian in Bermuda since 2016.
Sarah has three nutrition-related degrees: BSc Hons Human Nutrition, Pg Dip Clinical Nutrition and Health, and her MSc in Dietetics. She’s recently completed an MBA in Healthcare Management adding a positive dimension to her nutrition counselling skills.
Dietetically, Sarah has worked in acute and community settings within the NHS back in the UK. And in Bermuda, you may recognize Sarah from her time working in private practice or the hospital where had been working for 5 years before joining us at the association.
Sarah is a dynamic dietitian with a passion for public health and disease prevention. She has been President of the Bermuda Dietitians Association since 2019, sits on the Government’s Board of Dietitians, and has often been seen or heard on the radio, TV or in our newspapers with her involvement in health promotion on the island.
Specialties she has focused her skills on include weight management, nutrition support, oncology, gastroenterology, cardiovascular disease and stroke, and diabetes.
Sarah is known for her ability to convey complex information in an understandable way and is passionate about using the most up-to-date public health and evidenced-based scientific research on food and health which she can translate into practical guidance to support people to make appropriate lifestyle and food choices. As a diabetes educator at the association Sarah can interpret the science of nutrition to improve health outcomes and support individuals living with diabetes by educating and giving practical, personalized advise to clients, patients, carers, and colleagues.
In her spare time, Sarah is usually found enjoying the sunshine – whether gardening at home, walking Bermuda’s railway trails or swimming at the beach. Her guilty pleasure is cozying up with her dog Rea towatch reality television.
