Sara is a Registered Dietitian currently working as a Diabetes Educator for the Bermuda Diabetes Association. As Diabetes Educator she is responsible for raising diabetes awareness in the community and assisting those in our community with diabetes to live well, and prevent complications. Her role with the Diabetes Association includes active partnerships with Department of Health, Well Bermuda, Healthy Schools, and many other corporate and church programs.
She is Bermudian and obtained her BSc Hons degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Queen Margaret College, Edinburgh,Scotland, and trained for her clinical internship at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, England before returning home to Bermuda to work in 1993.
She worked previously at KEMH for 16 years as a Clinical Dietitian, with 11 years spent working in the Diabetes Centre, counseling patients and teaching nutrition classes.
Her passions include working with children and families living with type 1 diabetes. Sara is a certified insulin pump trainer and actively involved with programs and camps for young people with Type 1 diabetes.
Sara enjoys swimming, and kayaking and spending time walking Bermuda’s railway trails led by her active dog.
